What can you do with the kids during the holidays? Destinations for Families

Last week, we offered some recommendations for travel destinations for families with children. Given the positive response we received, we thought we’d offer some hints about what to do with the kids during the holidays. Let’s take a look at Andalusia’s Costa del Sol through a lens of activities, plans and recommended routes for the whole family.

Torrox – A Chance for the Family to Enjoy the Best Climate in Europe

Torrox boasts some of the best weather in Europe, offering up ideal temperatures throughout the year, allowing the opportunity to enjoy the beaches and  natural landscapes , like Maro. While parents are sure to enjoy the charm of the local white villages, kids have plenty to be excited about on the eastern Costa del Sol, including visits to the Treasure Caves and the Nerja Caves, which offer guided educational tours.

Another essential stop in the area that will is sure to fill parents and kids with excitement is a visit to see the legendary Chanquete ship from the beloved series, “Verano Azul”, or Blue Summer, located in the neighboring town of Nerja. Not far from there, visitors can find the Aquavelis Water Park, the Granada Sciences Park, offering fun, leisure and culture for children and adults alike.

Costal del Sol, Fun for Night and Day

The Costa del Sol is not just destination for beach and fun in the sun. If you go on holiday in Estepona or Marbella, you’ll see that the area offers the amenities for adults and children to meet to needs of the most discerning traveler. More and more, visitors to the Costa are trying diving lessons for kids or heading out on the water to take family tours in search of dolphin sightings, sure to hold the attention of kids throughout the trip. This will surely give them something to tell their mates when they return to school in September!

Selwo Aventura

Another of the coast’s most successful attractions is the Selwo Adventures, where visitors will find more than 2,000 different species of wildlife, living in semi-freedom throughout the unique park – a truly unforgettable experience. Don’t forget to visit Juzcar, known as “Smurf Village” for its blue houses, or the internationally-known resort village of Mijas, where ‘donkey taxis’ offer a safe ride that will surely have an effect on you.

Kids Hotels

How would you like to find a hotel where kids stay for free, just in front of the beach and that offers a mini-club for parents to rest while kids have fun?

Well stop dreaming, because at Fuerte Hotels children up to 8 years (up to 12 in season low) stay for free when staying with their parents. This means that when parents book half board, children are also included for the same price.

However, the strongest selling point for Fuerte Hotels is the children’s entertainment program called Forti Club (not available in Fuerte Calaceite). These clubs offer the chance for parents to enjoy a romantic meal, a spa session or just a quiet walk along the beach  – things that are incompatible with a trip with kids – while monitors and caregivers take care of the children. They will have the chance to make new friends and take part in recreational activities, including sports, horse riding, face painting, games and craft workshops, not to mention educational routes like walking the Botany Route, where they can learn about local plant life.

Did you know that Fuerte Hotels has organic gardens in all their hotels? Monitors will also be on hand to teach them how to farm the land and how to collect and care for their own vegetables. They also teach children the importance of recycling and educate children about the importance of caring for the environment, following Fuerte Hotels dedicated pilosophy of Responsible Tourism (not available in Fuerte Calaceit).

Hotels:

Olée Holiday Rentals is located between Torrox and Nerja on the coast and offers large apartments up to 3 bedrooms, with private kitchens, a pool and green areas to play.

Fuerte Estepona, Fuerte Marbella (in Marbella) invite kids to stay for free and offer family rooms, the Forti Club, pools and gluten-free menu options.
