Some festivals offer full programmes that run over several days.

Book accommodation early
Many small villages have limited accommodation, and during festivals demand increases significantly. If you can’t find availability, consider staying in nearby towns.

Understand the cultural context
Some celebrations have a strong religious or historical background — such as romerías (pilgrimages), ferias (fairs) or cultural weeks. Understanding what is being celebrated will help you engage more meaningfully and show respect for local traditions.

Dress and Etiquette

Dress appropriately for the occasion
If you’re attending a fair, you might choose to wear traditional Andaluc

ian attire (such as trajes de flamenca for women or polka-dot shirts for men). For pilgrimages or religious events, it’s best to dress comfortably, respectfully, and in keeping with the setting.

Wear comfortable shoes
Many festivals involve walking, dancing or standing for long periods.
