One of the most widespread and currently accepted is the one proposed by the teacher and musicologist Manuel Garcia Matos. According to Matos, the word <i>flamenco<\/i> came from a slang term from the later eighteenth and early nineteenth century, meaning \u201cbully\u201d or \u201cpretentious. Therefore, in Andalucia, the expression \u201cDon\u2019t Be Flamenco\u201d would come to mean, \u201cDon\u2019t be cocky\u201d. It was not until the nineteenth century that the term came to mean an exclusively gypsy definition, referring to the Andalucian group only, whose explanation comes to mean <i>flamancia<\/i> or flame &#8211; fiery or burning.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>2. This type of eighteenth century sketch, together with the fervour surrounding the birth of <b>Andalucian customs,<\/b> would result in a nineteenth century development of a musical genre that came to prominence thanks to <b>Caf\u00e9s Cantantes<\/b>, scenic spaces that exposed the \u201cjondo\u201d sensation to the culture of Andalucia. In this way, they began to form the styles of primitive flamenco or \u00a0<b>palos flamencos<\/b>. Silverio Franconetti (son of an Italian and Andalucian) opened the first cafe by a Seville flamenco singer in 1881, which is considered to be the starting point of flamenco as genre and profession.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>3. This is thanks to singers like <b>Antonio Chac\u00f3n, Manuel Torre and Pastora Pav\u00f3n, known as the \u201cLa ni\u00f1a de los peines\u201d<\/b> &#8211; \u201cthe girl with the combs\u201d. They established and shaped various clubs that were scattered throughout Andalucia \u00a0and participated in the creation of new songs and styles. Later, <b>Antonio Mairena <\/b>was responsible for canonising flamenco patterns. At the same time, the world of <b>guitars<\/b> grew with great splendour and helped guide a ground swell that led the instrument to prominence on par with flamenco singing. The maestro Patino, a companion of Silverio, was one of the major drivers of the evolution of the guitar.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>\u00a04. There are two major groups according to the melodic character of a song: the <b>happy<\/b> or gay (also called festive) and the <b>dramatic<\/b> (the most severe).<\/p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>5. Within this trend, we highlight the organisation of the <b>First National Cante Jondo Contest of C\u00f3rdoba<\/b> in 1956, the creation in 1958 of the <b>first Chair of Flamenco <\/b>and the birth of many festivals across the country and globe. Currently, flamenco is part of a wide range of academic doctorates and countless scholarly programmes studying both singing and dance around the world.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>7. Singers like <b>Canalejas de Puerto Real, Pepe Marchena more recent ones like Camar\u00f3n de la Isla, El Lebrijano and Enrique Morente<\/b> have come together to create a new dimension. \u00a0On guitar, <b>Paco de Lucia and Manolo Sanlucar <\/b>followed suit.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>8.
