Today we&#8217;re giving a few more details about the 5 most interesting points on this marvellous circular path.<\/p>\n<h2>5. The Age Old \u201cAlcornoque de las \u00c1nimas\u201d<\/h2>\n<p>Impressively peering over among the surrounding corks of the Llano de los Tejares, the \u201cAlcornoque de las \u00c1nimas\u201d cork tree stretches an impressive <strong>7 metres in diameter, 20 meters high and dates back more than 130 years<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Actually an example of a <em>Quercus suber<\/em>, this huge tree is known as the \u201cAlcornoque de las \u00c1nimas\u201d because many years ago, when it drew the attention of the largest dwarf tree in the park, it was decided that it held a special purpose \u2013 raising money from the sale of it corkage. <strong>The money would go on to be used to buy the oil that lit the candles of the Church of Grazalema, which is dedicated to the Holy Soul<\/strong>. The Junta de\u00a0 Andaluc\u00eda&#8217;s Environmental Advisory has cataloged the specimen on its list of unique trees in\u00a0 Andaluc\u00eda.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7731\" style=\"width: 730px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.fuertehoteles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/AlcornoqueAnimas1_blog.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7731\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7731\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.fuertehoteles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/AlcornoqueAnimas1_blog.jpg\" alt=\"Alcornoque de las \u00c1nimas\" width=\"720\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fuertehoteles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/AlcornoqueAnimas1_blog.jpg 720w, https:\/\/blog.fuertehoteles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/AlcornoqueAnimas1_blog-300x187.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.fuertehoteles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/AlcornoqueAnimas1_blog-450x281.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-7731\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Alcornoque de las \u00c1nimas<\/p><\/div>\n<p>*The tree can be found about 2 miles from the <a title=\"Fuerte Grazalema\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fuertehoteles.com\/en\/hotels\/fuerte-grazalema\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hotel Fuerte Grazalema<\/a>, at the beginning of a beautiful\u00a021-kilometer circular route leaving from the hotel and running along the marsh near the Gaduares River.<\/p>\n<h2><b>4. The Patagalana Dolmen Ruins<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>One of the best known landmarks amount hikers and groups of scholars in the area is the Patagalana Dolmen ruins. Although not much is really known about this building, the lack of information makes it no less interesting to visit. Additionally, the road to the structure is a treat unto itself. According to data from the Andalucian Historical Heritage Institute, the small megaliths are called the <strong>Sepultura de la Giganta and date back to the Bronze Age<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7728\" style=\"width: 730px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.fuertehoteles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Dolmen_blog.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7728\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7728\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.fuertehoteles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Dolmen_blog.jpg\" alt=\"Dolmen Patalagana\" width=\"720\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.fuertehoteles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Dolmen_blog.jpg 720w, https:\/\/blog.fuertehoteles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Dolmen_blog-300x187.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.fuertehoteles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/Dolmen_blog-450x281.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-7728\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dolmen Patagalana<\/p><\/div>\n<h2><b>3. &#8220;Solano Cross&#8221;<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Hidden in the woods to the right of our path, hikers can find the \u201cSolano Cross\u201d, where the inscription reads, \u201cIn memory of D. Alonso Moscoso Solano, killed on September 15, 1936\u201d. Speaking to a man at a bar, we were told that D. During the <strong>War of Independence against the French<\/strong>, on October 20th, 1810, the guerrilla fighter Jose Aguilar was said to have faced Napoleon&#8217;s troops in a clash on this bridge. The Gaduares Marsh (or of Campobuche)<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>In one of the most scenic and calm parts of the route, hikers can find charming wildlife, including ducks and turtles, living in silence among riverside plants.
