The Yusto/Giner Gallery – A Room For Art In Marbella

The Yusto/Giner Gallery in Marbella was introduced to the art world just a year and a half ago, but has already become a highlight among younger artists on the international level. It has attracted new and promising artists who could- and why not? – become the next Picasso or Dali.

The gallery is located in an industrial space and is devoted to national and international contemporary art. Its mission is to offer a renewed and compelling vision for modern art. The gallery’s director, Graciela Giner, told the Fuerte Blog that at this time, “you have to be a little crazy to get into this mess, but it’s worth the effort if it’s really what you love.”

And so, with a deep passion for art, Juan Pablo Yuste joined this entrepreneur to take the plunge – “The enthusiasm for pursuing this dream made us trade in our work for the Land Registry for the art world,” said Giner.

Both lived and worked in Melilla, but had houses in Marbella, so they began looking for a suitable location in the city. Eventually, they decided to base their gallery in the La Ermita industrial area, offering ceilings over ten feet high to display large works of art. They have also become the only space in Marbella providing room enough to show creative video productions.

Art At Affordable Prices

The art on display is affordable and in many cases one can purchase pieces from new artists for just 400 €. Graciela has come to conclude that the Yuste & Gines Gallery has become one of the most important in Marbella because it offers a complete project of the utmost quality.

The gallery team works directly with the artists, contacting them and even offering their work to museums, such was the case of the CAC in Malaga, which recently acquired a large format work by Monica Sanchez Robles, a Madrid artist who works with photographs mounted in methacrylate.

The Next Exhibition

Estudio para despertador

Estudio para aguardar el asombro

The gallery’s next exhibition will take place from the 19th of September to the 20th of November, featuring the work of Hugo Lugo as centrepieces. (www.hugolugo.com)

Lugo is a renowned Mexican artist with an impressive track record, backed by numerous exhibitions and awards. Graciela tells us that when they saw his work, they were immediately taken with it.  After earning a Bachelor of Visual Arts from the University of Montemorelos, NL (Mexico), Hugo Lugo has been the subject of ten solo exhibitions in countries like Chile, Mexico and Venezuela. The last of these was held last year in the Ginocchio Gallery (Mexico City) and bore the name ‘Recent Work’. He has participated in over 80 exhibitions since beginning to show in 1998 with ‘ The Portrait As A Pretext ‘.
