Fuerte Hoteles joins the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) for the “Blackout” to support global environmental protection, which will be held on Saturday March 23rd.

The Andalucian hotel group and others will participate again this year in the WWF’s Earth Hour, the largest citizen mobilization campaign in the world in defence of the environment. Each year, thousands of people, facilities and businesses around the globe shut their lights off for an hour blackout on March 23rd from 20.30 to 21.30 with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of energy conservation.

Specifically, those guests staying at Fuerte establishments in Marbella, Conil, and Grazalema will join in for the event. For one hour that night, most of the lights in each hotel will go dark and be replaced by candles

“We are sure it will be an experience that our customers will not soon forget and that will provide for a charming night,” says Natalí Ruiz, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of Fuerte Hotels.

This outage “will mean significant energy savings and provide a very powerful tool for environmental awareness among our employees and customers,” Ruiz continued. However, “the Fuerte Hotel group’s strong commitment to responsible tourism is not just for one night, but for all year round, which can be seen in our annual CSR report, where we collect the measurement of our efficiency efforts, accounting for a 15% reduction in energy consumption last year alone.”
